LTO cartridge analysing - VeriTape®

As the flood of data increases steadily the security of this data becomes more and more significant. Faulty media is often identified as the main cause of incompleted or non recoverable back-ups. Aided with the VeriTape analyzer from StorRepair, LTO cartridges can be inspected for quality and reliability. Thereby identifying early signs of deterioration and avoiding costly failures and the time consuming consequences of corrupt or failed back-ups.

The VeriTape tool analyzes the quality of the LTO cartridges directly and in a matter of seconds. The resulting analysis provides information about the functionality of Media as well as potentially defective tape drives. Periodical analysis is a must for ensuring the quality of stored data, particularly with business critical data back-ups.

LTO cartridge erasing - Secure Erase™

Additionally StorRepair offers Data Erasing services for LTO/9840/9940 cartridges. This means the safe, reliable erasure of data, either in our own repair shop or at customer sites. The advantage of the MPTapes deletion process, "Secure Erase", is that not only the LTO/9840/9940 cartridge data is erased but the servo tracks are erased as well. Thus ensuring a complete, total and unrecoverable data erase. Upon request an additional process can be used to write NEW servo tracks allowing cartridges to be reused as a refurbished cartridge. A refurbishment time stamp is place on the tape header thus eliminating any confusion between new and refurbished cartridges. Additional scanning can determine the quality Level of each erased cartridge.(Level score >85) This means that now cartridges can be reused, which in a conventional erasing process was not possible because the servo track could not be re-written. Banks, data centers and government agencies as well as all companies with sensitive data, who are using LTO/9840/9940 cartridges, can benefit from this service and save costs, as the erase time compared to a conventional deletion in the drive, much shorter and the expensive new purchase of cartridges may be saved through possible reuse.
